Since becoming a financial advisor, I have learned that managing my clients' behavior is equally as important as helping them manage their investments. I avoid following the herd by taking measures to prevent my clients from making emotion-based investment decisions. Investing can be enjoyable and given the opportunity to be successful when conducted in a rational manner.
I began my investment industry career in 1984 with McLaughlin, Piven, Vogel, Inc., where I primarily specialized in fixed income securities. In 1988, I joined A.G. Edwards (now Wells Fargo Advisors) and expanded my practice to include equities, options, mutual funds, and insurance products. In 2009, I joined Stifel for its client-first culture and entrepreneurial spirit. Stifel also offers the investment products of a large firm with the personal touch of a boutique.
My wife and I enjoy traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. We are focused on spending our kid’s inheritance, and I encourage my clients to do the same!
I began my investment industry career with A.G. Edwards in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2002. I later moved to our Boston office and joined Stifel in 2010.
Early in my career, the majority of investors I met had little to no roadmap regarding their financial goals and retirement needs. Well-defined estate planning, charitable giving, and college funding strategies seemed to be areas that were lacking as well. Creating a comprehensive wealth management plan and reviewing annually helped alleviate some of their concerns about the future. I also find working with my clients’ tax and legal advisors helps create a team effort with all parties working to address the unique needs of the individual.
Outside the office, I enjoy coaching basketball, volunteering at the CrossRoads shelter in Portsmouth, and assisting the Pease Greeters – thanking our troops, one flight at a time.
A native of New Hampshire, I started in the financial services industry in 1991 and joined John in 1995 as his assistant at A.G. Edwards. In 2009, John and I made the move to Stifel. We feel this has been a great fit for us.
